We are able to slow down alot more - the groups energy and requests can lead us towards flow or yin like practice which is more of pure mindful yoga (insight meditation influences) or if group wants - we are also able to stop more and break down postures, discuss a bit. The classes are taught in english, however Mon and Wed instructor is able to speak in japanese if needed. location grassy area to the right of the waikiki aqaurium -on the quiet end of Waikiki beach towards Daimondhead side - away from the hotels and bustle for a more connecting expereince to hawaiis land and nature -as we mindfully watchtrees and clouds sway and surfers coast the waves. bring water and large towel - no mat is needed on grass- the earth shall be our mat

Escape the hotel busy areas for the day .......as our Beachfront yoga is in a stunning serene quieter location of waikiki the day starts with an included but optional beach yoga at 9am-10:15 followed by a hike to a more hidden rustic and serene tall waterfall (a locals favorite secret area away from mass tour commercialism and buses of people) where we can get immersed fully in water if you wish. the hike leaves next to our yoga spot at 10:30-3:30ish back in waikiki - depending on groups pace -the latest we have been back is 4:30 if you drive yourself which many people prefer so they can explore the east side beaches after (a must see area)- you would arrive at the hike location by 11:00 ish and be done by 3 ish Meditation by waterfall, brief yoga session in a valley/rainforest integrated in small bits,and overall mindful adventurous explorations in off beaten dirt paths - all optional - only a considerate attentiveness is encouraged for your better experience and others as well. - so you don't miss the surprises of the jungle Hike will accompany mindful exploration of flora, fauna and culture.
About karen
Karen as founder, provides the training and vision for the company. She received her RYT 200 Ashtanga and Hatha teaching certification from Aryan Yoga & Reiki Centre in McLeod Ganj, India, a hill town located in the foothills of the Himalayas and home to the current exiled Dalai Lama and Tibetan government. Her intensive training stressed Asthanga’s underscoring of the vitalness of alignment,postures maximizing the blood circulation flow, and breath over flexibility in order to ensure long term physical health, strength and internal focus. While there she spent time in Buddhist meditation retreats where going without speaking for the duration really allowed her to recognize her core. While in the Himalayas, she volunteered teaching English to Tibetan monks and their community, and was blessed to be able to sit in on several teachings from the Dalai Lama. That is where she began exploring deeply the Buddhist traditions of mindfulness and analytical meditation, a practice that is now being adopted by the west in all areas from modern psychology to training the military. She was changed intensely inside. In adherence to her background in law and community development, she is very interested in the development of public health, social consciousness and alternative children's programs, and thus teaching yoga came right in line with those life missions. She is a lover of wisdom and philosophy, animals and rugged nature, a devoted academic, and one very open to spirituality. An island girl at heart with a global mindset, she believes in the religion of kindness, and adheres to the ideals that Zen teaches; that only compassion, kindness and our connections with each other will lead us to lasting happiness in our own lives. Karen studied law not to execute it in job but rather to, use it as a means to contribute to a meaningful difference in the world; to deal with with policy and social justice issues for those that need help with resources most. She wanted to study law to navigate the law for herself and others, and at times to help effect changes within laws. Through yoga and non-profit community development, she feels incredibly blessed to be able to answer to her higher calling, to devote her life to the development of greater consciousness and compassion for herself and others...to spread ease, tranquility and... shanti~ (you can read her full bio on the instructor tab)
