Working to bring attention to our deepest of natural rhythms, participants will learn simple and powerful techniques that encourage gentle shifts inautomatic breathing patterns. These shifts help to bring unique and person insight into the resident intelligence of our own body-mind. Chakra Toning and Sound Bath

During this one-hour practice, Madeline will lead students through breath exercises, intended to create openness in the torso, calm the nervous system and increase overall awareness while decreasing excess tension in preparation for the creation of sound. As the bowls sound, students will have the opportunity to create healing sounds from the inside out through vocalization, using brahmari breath (humming), vowel sounds and single syllables (e.g. ram, yam). The class concludes with a 25-minute sound bath. The seven chakras (Sanskrit for ‘wheel’); are synonymous with the seven major nerve bundles found along the axial skeleton. Each of these nerve bundles responds uniquely to vibrational frequencies; whether produced by one’s own voice or from an outside source, such as a singing bowl or other musical instrument. There are many health benefits to both singing, and sound-bathing, which include: deep relaxation, improved sleep, endorphin release and decreased anxiety. No prior singing experience or vocal training to fully benefit from toning.

About Leigh Grimes
Leigh was born in Baltimore but has spent all of her adult life between New York and Miami working in fashion production. She found yoga after a spinal injury that kept her down for almost a year. When she began her yoga journey, she didn't like yoga at all. She was healing, frustrated, and couldn't touch her toes. After a few weeks of continuing to show up on the mat, something clicked and she became obsessed. Her entire life had changed after the injury and finding this practice, she quit her job, and began on a new path of wellness.
