Fat Graphs may carry added risks and extra precautions for the patient to be discussed with your Dr before treatment. Clients should have a Dr. who provides after-surgery care and monitors healing in the U.S. If you had your surgery outside of the USA, you should have a Dr. in the US willing to provide post-op checkups to ensure there are no complications preferably local to where you live. Holistic Bodyworks and its therapists are not responsible for complications from the care you may have received after surgery from OTHER PROVIDERS such as incisional drainage and painful aggressive massage techniques, most commonly used in Miami and outside of the U.S. in surgery clinics. Lymphatic Massage also known as Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is a very gentle, relaxing, rhythmic touch therapy to help the lymphatic system work more efficiently by increasing lymphatic circulation through pumping massage-like movements with the hands, and helps to remove excess fluid, decongest lymphatic pathways and detoxify the body. Benefits include stress relief, boosted immunity, detox body, reduced pain and muscle spasms, injury recovery, post-op recovery, reduced edema, Helps with a wide range of conditions such as headaches, tinnitus, vertigo, whiplash, sinusitis, arthritis, eczema, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, stress, depression, insomnia, and much more! I do not apply bandages or treat severe or pitting edema/lymphedema.
Please note this should not be confused with traditional, Prenatal, deep tissue, or sports massage. Although this is a gentle, safe therapy, performed by a trained Lymphatic Drainage Therapist, there are contraindications so always check with your Dr. before receiving a new therapy if you have medical concerns. This post-operation session should be at least 36-48 hours after the procedure and sometimes as soon as 24 hours with no complications depending on the procedure with medical clearance from your Surgeon. Any drains placed must be removed, or contained and incisions must be covered or closed prior to treatment. I will not be able to reinsert or remove any drains. I do not work directly on open incisions, drain any fluid from incisions or directly on fresh scar tissue, or remove or place bandages. If an infection develops after surgery you must wait until the infection clears and Dr. gives permission to safely proceed with treatment. I will be wearing non-latex gloves for post-op sessions around fresh incisions and practicing regular cleaning and sanitization protocols, however, no massage room is sterile and you are responsible for keeping your surgery site clean and covered before and after the session. I would advise bringing any extra pads, alcohol wipes, or bandages you may need.
