Yin-Yasa Yoga
with Jessica Hawkins
1 hour minutes
Vinyasa Flow meets Yin Yoga! A creative fusion of both Vinyasa and Yin Yoga styles blended together to create an uplifting, balanced practice. The Vinyasa portion will explore breath with mindful movements, increasing strength and flexibility. Creating an internal awareness through the energy and heat generated allows for a quieting of the mind and body in order to drop deeper into the Yin portion. These longer held Yin poses help the connective tissue to release, creating space in the joints which allows energy to flow freely through the body. Yin-Yasa is open to all levels of students! Support and modification will be provided for beginners as well as options to deepen the experience for those that are more advanced. Some knowledge of basic yoga postures is recommended.
About Jessica Hawkins
Jessica is a 2016 graduate of the 200hr Interdisciplinary Yoga Teacher Training at Evolve Yoga + Wellness, an affiliate of the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica. Jessica grew up as a military child living on both coasts and Japan; calling Southern Maryland home since early 2000. She was first introduced to yoga at a local gym but found the atmosphere was lacking personal attention. Eventually discovering a smaller studio which allowed her passion to grow over the years and ultimately lead her to take the leap into teacher training. Jessica enjoys a variety of class styles, often letting her body and mind tell her what type of class it needs. She loves that yoga not only allows her to challenge her mind and body but also allows her to take the time for self-care. No matter what happens in life, yoga is always there! Her intention as a teacher is to allow her students to experience their bodies both physically and mentally, taking their time on the mat to focus within. “Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self” – The Bhagavad Gita

Barre
with Lyn Faig
1 hour minutes
Barre
BARRE This class is a high intensity, fun, and addicting class! Even though many movements are founded in ballet it is not for only dancers or just for women. This class will assist anyone who is interested in working on balance and using small isometric movements to strengthen and tone the legs, core, back, arms, and shoulders. Small isometric movements, attention to form, and working deep layers of muscle groups directly followed by stretching these same muscle groups creates that long, lean dancer’s body. The body is not only more flexible and leaner but also stronger and able to progress through more difficult sequences and more advanced poses as the client continues to practice. This is an an aerobic class and no rhythm is needed for any “dancing” but instead endurance is challenged in holding poses deep in the muscle groups and maintaining form and control to move with accuracy and precision. And its still so much fun and over before you know it! The other, just as significant, aspect of Barre is the focus it demands and the focus you reclaim as you go through your workout, armed (with well-defined arms we might add) to face the rest of your day calmly, confidently and health-fully.Wear yoga-style clothing *NOTE:Because of small class size we highly recommend you pre-register at $10 for this class..Drop-ins are $12 if space is available. We also offer class passes - 10 Class Pass $90, 5 Class Pass $47.50
About Lyn Faig
Lyn began taking Barre classes as a personal workout and enjoyed it so much that she decided to become an instructor. She chose the Barre Body ® program because it is created by dancers in a ballet inspired class set to music. She loves that it is a low impact, customized workout that increases cardiovascular fitness, sculpts your body and challenges coordination and balance. It is extremely effective in enhancing posture and targeting specific muscle groups. Lyn is excited to bring this fun and challenging Barre class to Barefoot.
